What Is Poetry?

The Kid and I have had an open and running exchange of ideas about the nature of poetry lately. For my part, I confessed that there was very little Hip Hop that I felt veered through 'poetic' territory, but on the rare occasion when it does happen it's a beautiful thing (I'm thinking some of Nas's work like I Gave You Power, Rakim's Who Is God). But this reading right here, which The Kid sent through today, is something else.
